Thiokol design-derived SRBs for Artemis I stacked in NASA's VAB
History:
1926: Thiokol is founded, manufacturing a solvent-resistant material called Thiokol
1945: JPL discovers that Thiokol can be used as a stabilizer in solid rocket motors
1958: Thiokol merges with Reaction Motors Inc. (RMI)
1974: Thiokol wins contract to build the SRBs for the Space Shuttle
1982: Thiokol merges with Morton-Norwich Products, becoming Morton Thiokol Inc.
1989: Morton-Thiokol splits into two separate companies
2001: ATK buys Thiokol for $2.9 billion
2007: ATK wins contract to build SRBs for the Constellation Program (This later becomes SLS)
2014: Orbital Sciences and ATK merge, forming Orbital ATK
2018:
Orbital ATK is purchased by Northrop Grumman
